We are delighted to announce that with the kind permission of local landowners, and easing of COVID restrictions, we now have a date for the rescheduled annual “Beating of the Bounds”
The new date is Bank Holiday Monday, 30th August, we’re sticking to the same format as previous years;
Meet on The Green at 8.00AM, It’s an 18 mile walk, with a lunch break at approximately 12.20, packed lunches can be deposited at the start and will be brought up to you.
Those not wishing to do the whole walk are very welcome to leave or join the walk at lunchtime but will have to find their own way to or from home.
We usually get back to the village at around 16.15 pm for some well earned refreshment & the awarding of ribbons, and as we started to do in 2019, for any children of Primary school age who complete any half of, but not the whole walk, there will be a badge awarded.
There will be a couple of diversions form the usual route to respect crops & livestock but at this time of year and as usual dogs are not allowed.
We understand that people may have other activities planned for this weekend but we look forward to seeing as many seasoned bounders and new faces as possible to celebrate our new found freedom.”
Please spread the word, the more the merrier!
