Churches and Books of Condolence & Flowers

Updated @ 12:25 – Flower tributes can be left at St Michaels Church by the south path, which is the path nearest the graves opposite the school. Those leaving tributes are encouraged to remove all plastic from the flowers in order that they can be easily composted at a later date.

Update @ 11:00 – The is now a book of condolence in St Michaels Church. The Church is open until approximately 5.00pm each day. Please bring a pen with you if you wish to sign the book. A location for flowers to be left is still being discussed. Please do not lay flowers in any public area until the location is announced. Thank you.

From the Whitton Team of Churches:

Following the death of Her Majesty yesterday, a number of things are being put in place at our churches (Aldbourne, Baydon, Chilton Foliat, Froxfield, Ramsbury). Our churches are open during the day for their usual times of opening and can therefore be used for private prayer. We will be delivering prayer resources to the churches for this purpose during today.

For those who would value coming together with others to reflect and pray, we will be offering prayers today at St. Michael’s, Aldbourne (12.30pm) and Holy Cross, Ramsbury (6.00pm).

We will look for an opportunity to open St. Michael’s Church, Axford too. Watch this space for details.

Books of Condolence will gradually be available in churches, but some will be ready more quickly than others.

There may be a desire within communities to lay flowers outside churches. We will need to keep an eye on where these are being placed. Please be especially mindful, in Chilton Foliat, that there is a wedding tomorrow (Saturday).

With thanksgiving for the life, faith and service of Her Majesty the Queen.

Revd. Beth Hutton
