On a chilly but dry Valentines Day, an Oak Tree (Quercus robur Fastigiata) was planted on Palmer’s Field as part of the ‘Oaks at 80’ project. The Parish Council was awarded an £80 grant to purchase the tree and supports, etc. Thank you to Cllr Oswald for bringing this project forward to the Parish Council and to Mr Oswald for assisting with the planting.
Oaks at 80 was launched by the Great Western Community Forest to commemorate the upcoming 80th anniversary of the end of World War II. In Wiltshire they worked in collaboration with Wiltshire Council. Trees have been planted across Swindon & Wiltshire as part of the project, creating a long-lasting commemoration that will benefit communities and environment for generations to come.
